Study in Nuclear Science and Engineering at MIT leads to the following degrees:

An undergraduate degree in engineering or science at a recognized institution should furnish suitable preparation for graduate study. Note in particular that the department's programs are designed to accommodate students from a wide variety of undergraduate disciplines.

Financial aid for graduate students is available in the form of fellowships, teaching assistantships, and research assistantships.

Applying to the Graduate Program

Complete information on applying to the graduate program, including online applications, is available from the MIT Graduate Admissions Office.

The deadlines for submitting a graduate application are as follows:

• January 7, 2010, for admission September 2010
• October 15, 2009, for admission February 2010

The review process begins after the deadline for the chosen term and continues for a number of weeks, as each section of each application is carefully evaluated. Please note that we can not begin reviewing an application until it is complete. In addition to the sections of the form which you fill out yourself, these items are required:

• Application fee ($75) - there are no fee waivers
• Three letters of reference, on the Evaluation for Graduate Admission forms which are included in the application
• Certified transcripts from all colleges attended
• GRE General Test scores (Institution Code 3514; Department Code 1609)
• Minimum TOEFL score of 577 for all international applicants, minimum computer-based TOEFL score of 233, 90 for internet-based; IELTS - Minimum score 7

To indicate that you need financial aid, please check the appropriate box on the Financial Statement included with the application form. Note that financial aid for international students is limited.
