David L. Brock

Dave is Principal Research Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and co-founder and a Director at the Auto-ID Center (now Auto-ID Labs and EPCglobal). The Center was an international research consortium formed as a partnership among more than 100 global companies and five leading research universities. David is also Assistant Research Professor of Surgery at Tufts University Medical School and Founder and Chief Technology Officer of endoVia Medical, Inc., a manufacturer of computer controlled medical devices. Edmund W. Schuster

Ed has held the appointment of Director, Affiliates Program in Logistics at the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics and is currently working at The Data Center in research and administrative capacities. Prior to MIT, Ed worked in various corporate management positions at Welch's and Oscar Mayer. His interests are the application of models to logistical and planning problems experienced in industry. He has a bachelor of science in food technology from The Ohio State University and a master in public administration from Gannon University with an emphasis in management science. Ed also attended the executive development program for physical distribution managers at the University of Tennessee and holds several professional certifications. Shoumen Palit Austin Datta

Besides his wok at the MIT Data Center, Shoumen is a Research Scientist with the Engineering Systems Division and the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the School of Engineering at MIT. He is also the Research Director and Co-founder of the MIT Forum for Supply Chain Innovation (http://supplychain.mit.edu/innovation) which is joint endeavour between faculty at the MIT School of Engineering and the MIT Sloan School of Management. Shoumen is a past-member of the Technology Board of the Auto ID Center at MIT. Dr Datta is interested to explore diverse innovative concepts, tools, technologies and standards, the confluence of which may impact decision systems in fields as diverse as medicine, healthcare, global security and enterprise management. Prior to developing his current interest in innovative engineering and operational systems, such as supply chain management, he was involved for 5 years with local and federal groups in information technology and public education in the State of California and US Department of Commerce. Dr Datta holds a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics from Rutgers University School of Medicine (NJ) and spent 15 years as a biomedical research scientist and instructor at Princeton University, Harvard University, Harvard Medical School, Whitehead Institute at MIT, Human Genome Center at MIT, University of California School of Medicine at San Francisco and the University of California at Berkeley. John Eul

John is the principal of Business Solutions and Pricebook Solutions, retail consultancies specializing in providing retail automation strategies addressing all elements of the convenience store and petroleum industries. John holds a B.S. in Accounting from Roosevelt University. He is a noted retail industry speaker and editorial contributor to numerous industry publications. He has served on the New England Convenience Store Association Board of Directors and their Massachusetts Legislative Committee. John also served on the Verc Enterprises, Inc. Board of Directors and on the Massachusetts Municipal Association Committee on Electric Utility Restructuring. John is a past member of the Kemper Insurance Policy Holder Board of Directors and was the Chairman of his Town of Oxford’s Finance Committee for eight years.
Tatsuya Inaba

Tatsuya received his Master of Engineering in Logistics from MIT before he started working as a research affiliate. Previously, he worked for Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) and RosettaNet and he has extensive experience in the e-Business field. His current interest is how companies can share information available within their four walls, especially new information captured by Auto-ID technology, and use it to improve their business processes. Stuart works on design of decision aids for application in manufacturing environments. His educational background includes a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin, a master of mechanical engineering from Seattle University, and a Ph.D. in engineering mechanics from the University of Minnesota. Stuart began his research career in the field of non-Newtonian fluid mechanics and has published over 50 journal articles in engineering and management science. Chaitra has graduated from MIT with a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Previously, she received undergraduate degrees in Management and Computer Science, along with minors in Economics and Music, all From MIT. As an undergraduate, Chaitra also spent one semester at Magdalen College, Oxford University studying Economics and Management. She has worked at Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch in various technology areas including fixed income analysis. Henry has graduated with a Master of Engineering in Logistics degree from MIT. Prior to MIT, he worked as a Senior Engineer in Agilent Technologies, Singapore. His work at Agilent involved developing Agilent's latest generation handheld Gigabit Ethernet network tester. He has experiences in product development, technical marketing, procurement and manufacturing. Prior to Agilent Technologies, Henry worked as a Design Engineer for Pixelmetrix Corporation developing world's first real-time Digital Video Broadcasting operation monitoring equipment. He completed his MBA and bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering at National University of Singapore. Henry is an active member of IEEE Communication Society, and he is also a member of APICS. Taehee Han

Taehee has received the Master of Engineering in Logistics at MIT. Prior to MIT, he worked as a supply chain manager at Samsung Electronics, Korea, leading a project team to optimize the logistics network of Samsung subsidiaries in Russia, China and Western European countries. He also developed and implemented the Advanced Planning System for Samsung sales subsidiaries in 10 countries. He has experience in supply chain management, logistics strategy and operations. Previous to Samsung Electronics, Taehee worked as a design engineer for Renault-Samsung Motors designing and developing Airbag systems. Max has graduated with a Master of Engineering in Logistics from MIT. Prior to MIT, he worked as an independent systems consultant to various companies. Max participated on multiple teams as Business Analyst, Systems Engineer, Systems Consultant, Project/Risk Manager, Applications Developer, DBA, Technical Writer and Trainer for Retek, Qwest, Xigent, Northwest Airlines, Boston Scientific/Scimed, Ziegler Power Systems, GMAC Mortgage, Ceridian and The Saint Paul. His research interests include:
- Re-architecting a major tobacco company to take advantage of the near perfect supply chain visibility created in an RFID enabled supply chain.
- Creating a systems architecture for the inter-enterprise collection and dissemination of RFID data.
- Creating a web services architecture to expedite containers through Shenzhen and Hong Kong Customs.

Adam Schlesinger

Adam has received the Engineering in Logistics at MIT. Prior to MIT, he worked as a project manager for Bombardier Aerospace in Montreal, Canada, developing global information system architectures and implementing ERP systems. He has experience in procurement, operations, engineering and finance, and has worked in three countries. Previous to Bombardier, Adam worked as a technical systems analyst for STS Systems developing point-of-sale software. He completed his bachelors degree in commerce at McGill University in Montreal, specializing in information systems and strategic management. While in school, he ran a small consulting firm that built distributed networks and basic infrastructure for small businesses. He has consulted on numerous IT outsourcing agreements.
