What is WebSIS?

WebSIS is a web-based student information system providing students access to academic and financial information such as grades, status of registration, account statements, financial aid statements, recent account activities, and so on. Students can also use WebSIS for actions such as pre-registering for classes, changing addresses, requesting transcripts and satisfying the loan entrance interview requirement. How is WebSIS made secure?

WebSIS uses public/private key cryptography to encrypt your data while it is being sent between the server and your web browser. WebSIS also uses X.509 certificates, granted by a special MIT certifying authority, to authenticate users. Before using WebSIS, you must get a digital certificate from the MIT certifying authority. Can I just peek at WebSIS?

If you're coming in from outside MIT, or you just want to see a preview of the system without getting a certificate, you can take a guided tour and see sample screens.

Who put WebSIS together?
