Yajing Zhao

Yajing is a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Evelyn N. Wang in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. With a passion for advancing the frontiers of energy science, she has journeyed down the road of studying thermal engineering since her undergrad years when she developed thermo-economic analysis on geothermal power systems. At graduate school, she became interested in condensation enhancement via micro/nano-engineered surface designs. Her master's work focused on (1) invistigating geometric effects of structured surfaces on dropwise condensation of water, and (2)developing robust lubricant infused surfaces (LIS) for dropwise condensation of low-surface-tension fluids. Her PhD work aims at design, fabrication and test of a scalable and robust nano/microstructured condenser surface based on capillary-driven wicking condensation to enhance heat transfer performance with water.
