INTERPHASE PRE-UROP MENTOR APPLICATION
OME and the UAAP have partnered to provide 2008 Interphase participants with the opportunity to conduct pre-UROPs during the summer. Pre-UROPs introduce students to MIT labs, faculty, and research conducted through UROP. During Interphase, pre-UROPs will be provided to incoming freshman students and will give them an opportunity to be paired with and shadow an experienced UROP student, a "Peer Mentor".
Becoming a mentor is an excellent way for you to gain valuable leadership, team-building, teaching, and communication skills while making a meaningful connection with an accepted MIT student.
Mentors must secure permission to participate from their faculty supervisors. Professors must also agree to host a given number of pre-UROPs in the laboratory over a three-week period this summer.
The Interphase Pre-UROP program will begin on Tuesday, July 8 and will end on Tuesday, July 29. Mentors commit to working with their pre-UROP student(s) from 1:30 until 3:30 PM every Tuesday and Thursday during this period.
If you are interested in becoming a Mentor, please fill out the online application below. PLEASE APPLY, ASAP, but no later than June 27.
If you are considering becoming a mentor but have questions about the program, please feel free to contact Karina Vielma in OME, Room 4-113, or Melissa Martin-Greene in the UAAP, Room 7-104.
