Our SEM Facilities are available for MIT and Outside use!

We have a TOPCON ABT-150T SEM with EDX Elemental Analysis, and gold/carbon coating facilities, as well as full sample preparation facilities.  We can analyze samples at up to 15,000x, as well as determine elemental compositions to within 0.5%. This facility is equipped to handle radioactive samples as well.

Our Mission

The H. H. Uhlig Corrosion Lab investigates the causes of failure in materials and the prevention of failure in materials, with an emphasis on nuclear materials.

Current research projects include SCC in Alloy X-750, weld integrity investigation and corrosion prevention in Lead Fast Reactors.
