Courses for Graduate Students in Teaching, Learning, and Academic Skills

Three classes have been developed to help improve the teaching skills of MIT doctoral students in preparation for academic careers:

• Teaching College-Level Science (5.95, 7.95J, 18.049J, 8.395J)
• Communication Skills for Academics (15.289), which is taught as part of the curriculum of the MIT Sloan School of Management, has a four-week component on teaching.
• Advanced Speaking & Critical Listening Skills: ELS (21F.232/233) is designed to provide practice in effective communication skills for international graduate students interested in teaching or working in the U.S.

Courses for Undergraduate Students Interested in Teaching

The MIT Scheller Teacher Education Program (TEP) offers a sequence of three classes for MIT undergraduates who are interested in becoming K-12 science and math teachers:

• Introduction to Teaching and Learning (11.124)
• Exploring K-12 Classroom Teaching (11.125)
• Educational Theory and Practice (11.129)
