MIT Security Studies Program has over 30 senior associates, including 7 faculty members who devote essentially all of their professional attention to security issues. The program profits from a network of connections with the diverse scientific and engineering community of MIT. Interdisciplinary approaches to security issues are second nature to the faculty, researchers, and graduate students. Approximately 40 graduate students are affiliated with the program, almost all of whom are doctoral candidates in political science. In addition, more than twenty fellows are attached to SSP, including military officers from each of the armed services who receive war college credit for time spent at MIT, and several senior scholars and former government officials.

MIT Security Studies Program faculty members advise or comment frequently on current policy problems, but the Program's prime task is educating those who will be the next generation of scholars and practitioners in international security policy making.
