Overview
Cost element grouping is an SAP feature that offers flexibility
in categorizing cost elements into groups. You can select an alternative
cost element structure for some of your reports by selecting different
cost element groups.
The reports which have a Cost Element Group field are the
Summary Statement, Detail Transaction Report, and the 24 Column
Account Managers Report. For example, if you run the Summary Statement
with the default cost element group, CEMIT-0, the report will display
complete information for all cost elements in a standardized order.
Some cost element groups may display more restricted views of activity;
for example, CEMIT-EX would display only expenses and would exclude
all revenue activity.
Cost element groups preceded with "CEMIT" are designed for use
with reports, and to ensure the completeness of your report it is
recommended that you use them. In addition to CEMIT-0, there are
other cost element groups: CEMIT-1, a slightly more summarized version
that includes settlement; CEMIT-3, a version that matches the groupings
of the Fund Analysis; and CEMIT-4, a grouping that matches the Brown
Book. See Cost
Element Group Descriptions for others.
