Attendance and Degree Certifications

MIT can provide, free of charge, official written certification of your degree and attendance dates. (If you are a current student looking for proof of your current enrollment, please see the instructions for enrollment certifications.)

Degree certifications can be used to provide proof to potential employers of your MIT education, or whenever such proof is required. It includes:

Your complete name (while at MIT)
Start and end dates of your attendance
MIT degree(s) awarded (if any)
The date you received your degree(s)

In addition, it can also include your:

Cumulative grade point average (GPA)
Undergraduate quartile class rank (MIT does not rank graduate students)

The certification can be faxed or mailed to you or a third party. It can also be held for you to pickup.

How to Order In Person

Please visit the Registrar's Office in 5-119. In most cases, the certification can be produced on the spot. Our office hours are Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

How to Order by Fax, Mail, or Email

Send a request to the Registar's Office which includes:

Your complete name (while at MIT)
Your MIT ID number (if known)
Your date of birth
Approximate dates of attendance
MIT degrees awarded (if any)
The information you would like included in the certification.
Name and address or fax number where you want the certification sent. If necessary, you may choose to have the certification sent via express shipping service.
A daytime phone number or email address where you can be reached
Your signature if you want GPA or undergraduate quartile class rank included (requests to release this information may only be sent by email if the signed request is scanned and sent as an attachment).
