Cambridge/Boston-area Hotspots

Boston Public Garden (next to Commons)
4 Pokéstop lured all day (near Ether Monument), several more mostly lured in the area
  • Rare lures: Butterfree, Electabuzz, Dratini
  • Uncommon lures: Eevee, Magnemite, Magikarp
  • Rare spawns: Vaporeon, Golduck, Wartortle, Kabuto, Lapras
  • Uncommon spawns: Clefairy, Exeggcute
  • Common but unique spawns: Eevee, Vulpix
Boston Commons
3/4 Pokéstop lured all day (near Frog Pond), several more mostly lured in the area
  • Uncommon lures: Eevee
  • Common but unique lures: Poliwag, Goldeen, Psyduck
  • Common spawns: Vulpix
  • Uncommon spawns: Magikarp, Poliwag
  • Rare spawns: Snorlax, Scyther (near baseball/softball field), Lapras
Long Wharf, Aquarium, Christopher Columbus Park
10+ Pokéstops, mainly lured near Aquarium. Two gyms within steps of each other.
  • Rare spawns: Dratini, Mankey, Dragonair, (Poliwrath)
  • Uncommon spawns: Voltorb (on the whard, near the two gyms), Magnemite, Pikachu (in C.C. Park)
  • Common spawns/lures: Magikarp, Slowpoke, Shellder, Tentacool, Goldeen, Krabby
Davis Square (Kenny Park)
4 Pokéstops lured, esp. during the evenings
  • Rare lures: Geodude, Rhyhorn, Evo'd Pokémon (Dewgong, Poliwrath, Golduck, etc.), Kabuto, Omanyte
  • Uncommon lures: Seel, Shellder, Krabby, Paras
  • Common lures: Drowsee, normal stuff
  • Rare spawns: Pinsir (up the bike path)
  • Uncommon spawns: Charmander (spawns right inside the area), Squirtle (spawns near Bike Boom)
Esplanade
4 Pokéstop lured occasionally (at Hatched Shell), some Pokéstop in the area. UPDATE: now a Bulbasaur nest with frequent spawns!
  • Rare lures: Dratini, Venomoth, Ponyta, Growlithe
  • Uncommon lures: Psyduck, Bellsprout, Slowpoke, Shellder
  • Common but unique lures: Magikarp, Poliwag, Goldeen, Krabby, Slowpoke
  • Rare spawns: Dratini
Castle Island
A ~20 minute drive from MIT. Has dozens of Pokéstops, 1 gym. One area usually has 4 lures. Information below from one trip plus word-of-mouth.
  • Rare lures (more at night): Kabutops, Exeggcutor, Grimer, Exeggcute, Golduck, Starmie
  • Uncommon lures and spawns: Omanyte, Pikachu, Cubone, Diglett, Sandshrew, Dratini, Growlithe, Clefairy, Eevee, Jigglypuff, Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Abra, Mankey, Vulpix, Doduo, Ponyta, Machop
  • Common lures/spawns: Psyduck, Slowpoke, Shellder, Magikarp, Poliwag, Bellsprout, Oddish, Tentacool, Goldeen, Staryu, Voltorb, Magnemite
  • Rare spawns: Ivysaur, Machoke
