DPD: Discover Product Design

Product Design is Everywhere

Take four seconds right now to look around and register as many products as you can see in the room. Just about everything you will see or interact with today was designed, and if four seconds is enough to appreciate a room full of product design, imagine how much we're going to pack into four days!

D.Camp will give you a thorough preview of the world of product design. We'll visit local design firms and art museums, meet cool people, work on a few small design projects, and get a head start exploring MIT, Cambridge, and Boston. No prior experience necessary… we’re excited to get you excited about design!

Get Inspired

Every designer needs inspiration, so we'll be visiting local Boston design firms to talk with product designers in their element. We also plan to visit local art museums and other Boston points of interest. Of course, creativity comes in many forms, so we might throw in a few evening outings to comedy clubs and movies.

Get Equipped

Designing the next big product is no fun without the right tools, so we'll be putting together a toolkit for you to work with during the week. Best of all, the toolkit (and everything you design with it) will be yours to keep after D.Camp.

Get Creative

We will be working on some small product design projects during the week, as well as one bigger project to show off to the world at the end of the week.

Get Fed

We can't expect you to be creative on an empty stomach, so we'll be arranging three meals a day for you. We'll reach out to you about dietary restrictions and food preferences once you're admitted to D.Camp.

Get Updates

D.Camp is MIT’s newest pre-orientation program, and we’re hard at work planning the schedule for the four days you’ll spend with us. If you have any questions, comments, or ideas, or want to receive updates on the plans for D.Camp, please visit our website at http://web.mit.edu/ideation/dcamp/
