Women's reading group

Support of the graduate women's reading group expresses just one aspect of the ODGE's mission, that is to "expose students to a broad range of cultural and interdisciplinary ideas." The reading group began with three or four students who shared the books they read as a way of minimizing their expenses. When the ODGE began underwriting the cost of books, participation tripled. Women gathered regularly to discuss and critique books of various genres, share ideas, and build friendships.

The reading list for 2007-08 includes:

Black Swan Green: A Novel
I, Claudius: From the Autobiography of Tiberius Claudius
Copenhagen
A Fine Balance
Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress
The Lexus and the Olive Tree: Understanding Globalization
Tender is the Night
Karma and Other Stories
The Eagle's Throne: A Novel
