SACNAS: Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science
October 15 – 18
Dallas, TX

SACNAS is a society of scientists dedicated to fostering the success of Hispanic/Chicano and Native American scientists – from college students to professionals – to attain advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership. The goal of the 2009 SACNAS National Conference is to explore how new and original research across disciplines advances our knowledge in all aspects of the human condition and provides solutions to problems and limitations impacting human potential.


SHPE: Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers
October 28 – November 1
Washington, DC

SHPE is the leading social-technical organization whose primary function is to enhance and achieve the potential of Hispanics in engineering, math, and science. The SHPE Conference is the largest Hispanic technical conference in the nation. The conference provides educational enrichment and academic outreach to students of all ages, extended training and networking for professionals and corporate representatives, and forums for companies to market their products, services, and new technologies.


AISES: American Indian Science and Engineering Society
October 29 – 31
Portland, OR

The AISES mission is to increase substantially the representation of American Indian and Alaskan Natives in engineering, science, and other related technology disciplines. The AISES National Conference attracts the nation's brightest American Indian students, as well as professionals in the fields of science, engineering, and technology. The three-day event includes a career fair, dynamic nationally recognized speakers, panel discussions, and workshops for students, teachers and professionals.


ABRCMS: Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students

Phoenix, AZ

ABRCMS is the largest, professional conference for biomedical students pursuing advanced training in the biomedical sciences. The conference is designed to encourage underrepresented minority students to pursue advanced training in the biomedical and behavioral sciences and provide faculty mentors and advisors with resources for facilitating students’ success.


NSBE: National Society of Black Engineers
March 31 – April 4
Toronto, Canada

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), with more than 31,000 members, is one of the largest student-governed organizations in the country. NSBE’s mission is “to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.”
