MIT faculty share a passion for teaching and contributing to their field of study. The MIT OpenCourseWare staff strives to support the faculty in their work by:

  • Helping faculty put their course materials online for teaching
  • Providing a vehicle for faculty to share their ideas and contribute to their discipline

Generally, MIT's faculty are already over-committed with teaching and research obligations, and sometimes have concerns about any additional burden that publishing materials to the MIT OpenCcourseWare Web site might bring.

In most cases, your participation requires as little as one meeting and/or a few emails as the MIT OpenCourseWare staff provide a variety of services including intellectual property clearance. To find our more about our publication process, read through the list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about faculty participation in MIT OpenCourseWare.

How We Work With Faculty

MIT OpenCourseWare Publication Managers (PMs) and Department-based Liaisons (DLs) work directly with MIT faculty throughout the publication process. PMs will be your primary contact within MIT OpenCourseWare. The PMs oversee all stages of publication, which include working with faculty to determine what materials should be published, building the course structure, implementing intellectual property strategies, and completing quality assurance for the course.

Department Liaisons work directly in the departments and we have made it a practice to hire recent MIT graduates who know the faculty and your work. The DLs work directly on materials and are available to assist you with content preparation and organization. Below are the main PM contacts at OCW, and which departments they serve:
