It examines a typical negotiation sequence, to help you anticipate and plan ahead, and then explores several difficult situations you may encounter, along with suggestions for helping you get out of them.
The most critical step in any negotiation is the first one: preparing for it. With proper preparation, you can defend your interests more effectively, and discover new and better solutions for yourself and the others who are involved. Being well prepared will prevent you from wasting energy and time pursuing a job you really don't want, and instead, help you focus your resources to impress the interviewer at the job you really do want.

The previous two sections provide a general overview of how to prepare for a negotiation and of potentially useful negotiation techniques. This section is a collection of questions that students have asked regrading specific issues about salary negotiations. Students have the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, or make suggestions at the end of each of the subsections above, as well as in this section. As common questions develop, we will incorporate them into the above two sections.
