Beanpot MIT Spring Invitational USAVB Tournament

The Boston Beanpot, or the MIT Spring Invitational Tournament, has been an active tournament since early 1970s (1973??? perhaps earlier). The MIT Graduate Club Men's team hosts the Beanpot tournament to prepare for its MAA and MBB seasons. To give you an idea of the tradition associated with this event, David Castanon, our regional USAV commissioner, first played in the tournament in 1973, at Mass General! It shifted to Boston Y in 1977, under the leadership of Marvin Meyers, and eventually moved to MIT in 1980.

The Beanpot Tournament includes the following divisions: Men's AA, Men's A, and Women's AA. The tournament has openings for a total of 30 teams, usually including 10-20 men's open teams, 10-20 men's A/BB teams, and 10-20 women's AA teams.
