Think of us as your global positioning system.
MISTI is the hub of a network of MIT country programs — each with its own staff dedicated to building opportunities in that region. Contact the staff of a country program to discuss your interests. They will work with you to craft a workshop, internship, or study-abroad opportunity that integrates MISTI resources with your goals.
Your field is our field.
Undergraduates, graduating students, graduate students, and recent alumni are all eligible to participate in MISTI experiences. Whatever your field — arts, sciences, engineering, business — a MISTI country program can arrange an intensive opportunity in a classroom, research lab, corporation, or NGO.
Airfare to another hemisphere.
MISTI internship experiences are designed to be cost-free for every MIT student. If internship compensation does not cover lodging and expenses, the program will help you to arrange other funding. What you need to know is this: if you want to go, we'll find a way to get you there.
The right way to shake hands.
To have a positive experience in another country, it helps to speak the language and understand the rules of society — both written and unwritten. Before you leave MIT for your overseas destination, MISTI arranges a series of intensive orientation sessions during which you learn about the politics, history, culture, and attitudes of the country you will be visiting.
Our network is your network.
No two MISTI experiences are alike, but they are almost always life-changing. With a network of hundreds of leading corporate and educational institutions in a growing number of countries, we can organize a program that allows you to pursue vital personal and professional goals.
