Doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships
Doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships funded by the French government and public research institutions encourage young MIT researchers and scholars to conduct part of their research in France's leading laboratories and schools and develop their own international networks.
Fellowship Programs
Chateaubriand Fellowship
For scientific research:
- Provides funds for doctoral or postdoctoral research in France for 6 to 12 months, health care insurance and round-trip airfare
- Eligibility: US citizens, applicants must be PhD candidates or PhD graduates

For research in the humanities, arts and social sciences:
- Provides funds for research in France for 9 months, health care insurance, round-trip airfare and an equivalent of 30 days per diem for traveling in France for research purposes.
- Eligibility: all citizenships, applicants must be enrolled in a PhD program

French MInistry of research Postdoctoral Fellowship
All research fields
- Provides funds for research in France for 12 months and health care insurance
- Eligibility: all citizenships, applicants must be PhD graduates (less than 35 years old) currently working in an MIT-related laboratory. The host laboratory in France must submit the application.
- Deadline: March 15 (please inform the MIT-France Program Coordinator (ajulich@mit.edu) of your intent to apply)

pasteur postdoctoral fellowship
- Provides $70,000 per year over three years for postdoctoral research at the Institut Pasteur in Paris
- Eligibility: US citizens, applicants must be PhD graduates
