WG speaker on Sept 18
Ruth: Just one more thank-you,
"formally" by e-mail this time. Thank you
for making this one of the MOST enjoyable
Working Group meetings I can
remember. Your use of humor to
teach made the presentation inclusive as
well as memorable. Clearly, handing
out prizes is a way to have fun while
solidifying public speaking tips.
Your toy budget must be huge! I hope
you had as much fun as we did.
On behalf of the Working Group - thank
you for a job WELL DONE (insert
virtual trophy here). Keep up
the good work,
Sincerely,
Therese

Re:
thank you, again
Ditto! Ruth, it was a fantastic
presentation. Very, very impressive.
Thank you for putting yourself (and
some of us!) on the spot.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I'm sure
all of us were entertained
but, more importantly, inspired as well!
Diane

THANKS
FOR THE LAUGHTER
Dear Ruth,
IT WAS A WONDERFUL FUN FILLED EVENT,
I LOVE THE HANDS AND THE CAT'S TONGUE - they hang above my desk.
BUT MOST OF ALL I LOVE THE EASY STYLE
OF YOUR PRESENTATION, somthing I am
hoping to do in the future, is to present,
entertain, yet still deliver
information useful to others. Thank
you. I learned quite a lot from your
presentation.
ON BEHALF OF THE MENTORING TASK GROUP,
it is my pleasure to thank you.

WONDERFUL
Hi Ruth:
I enjoyed your presentation very much
and am still laughing. You did a
great job and thank you for thinking
of me too. That was very nice of
you. I learned a few things from
you and will incorporate them in my class
too.
It is so important to learn from each other.
I will treasure my yellow clapping hands
and my fire extinguisher. It is
so important to teach with a sense of
humor. Teaching that way gets the
audiences attention and puts everyone
at ease. The one thing that I tell
my students about them being nervous
or having a severe case of
stage-fright is to stop thinking of
themselves. Namely, "oh is my hair
alright, do I have spinach in my teeth,
etc. etc. etc." If they just
concentrate on the topic they wish to
present, they will be more at ease.
Sorry I couldn't stay until the end as
I wanted to but had another
commitment to get to across campus.
Thanks again and lets stay in touch and
I certainly want you to come to my
Effective Speaking course during IAP
in January. Talk to you
soon. Barbara Smith
