LBGT Issues Group

About the Issues Group

The LBGT Issues Group is a committee of faculty, staff, students, and alumni(ae) who are lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, or just plain friendly. We seek to foster a safe and welcoming environment for LBGT students and to ensure that the educational mission of MIT is upheld for all students regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Meetings are once a month and address specific projects dealing with the concerns of the LBGT community. Anyone affiliated with MIT and LBGT-friendly is welcome to join or participate.

The LBGT Issues Group is coordinated by a Steering Committee selected by the
Issues Group each April. The current Steering Committee is:

  • TC Ong, Graduate Student Rep
  • Ed Ruiz, Staff Rep
  • Lex Johnson, Undergraduate Student Rep
  • Professor Kim Surkan, Faculty Rep
  • Abigail Francis, Ex Officio
