Research Interests:

I am interested in a variety of phenomena lying somewhere within the realms of materials science and physics.  In particular, I am involved in modeling growth and synthesis, in which capturing the guidng physics within a complex experimental arrangement is essential.  Projects that I am currently involved in include (1) modeling the growth and synthesis of carbon nanotubes, and (2) understanding defects, deformation, topology, and defect-mediated phase transitions in graphene--based systems.  Additionally, as a first foray into electronic structure, (3) I am exploring the nature of multiband materials for photovoltaic applications.  In my approach, I like to use a variety of research tools, spanning atomistic to continuum scales, depending on what is suitable for the problem.
