If you are a high school student that is either in the application
process or has already been accepted, one of the best ways to help
make your decision to come to MIT and join our team is to visit during the academic term. It
is important in making this visit, that you set it up through Coach
Taylor. This way, you ensure that you get someone on the team to host
you, see classes, practices and possibly a home meet. Many incoming students have a lot of concerns about the type
of students that are at MIT. This is mainly due to the many negative
stereotypes that people have about the people that go to MIT. However,
virtually everyone that visits realizes these stereotypes are false
or they are only representative of a small part of the student body.
In order to make an informed decision it is important to be well imformed.
To set up a visit, e-mail Coach Taylor the following information
at least a week in advance of your visit
Your name
The date you are planning on making a trip out to MIT and how long you plan on staying
Your event
Your area of the country/world
If you have a preference of staying with someone in a dorm/fraternity
Any other information that may be important.
Coach will then try to match you up as best as he possibly
can with one of the athletes as your host.

If you are currently a student at MIT and you'd like to try out for the team, please contact Coach Taylor via e-mail. After that point, you
can either schedule a time to meet up with him in his office or stop by the track during practice. Bear in mind, it is difficult, if not impossible
to join the team mid to late season because cuts have already occurred and you have already missed a substantial number of practices. So make sure you
get this taken care of ahead of time to get your chance to try out for the team. |
