Emission Scenarios User Guide
Three sets of emission scenarios (as described on the
previous page) are contained within the following folders:
- High emissions scenario
[download] (18.4 MB)
- Reference emissions scenario
[download] (18.4 MB)
- Low emissions scenario
[download] (18.3 MB)
- Within each folder, files are named "[emissiontype].[year].txt".
The format of the files follows that of 1x1 degree files in the EDGAR database
(see http://www.mnp.nl/edgar/ for details).
File Format:
All files have been compressed using WinZip in order to save disk space and to speed up transfer. Unzip the .zip files using standard unpacking software, which will expand their size by a factor of three. Note that even after compression each folder contains nearly 20 MB worth of files.
Each file contains eight lines of header information and 12859 lines of data formatted as follows:
- x,y,value
with:
- x = longitude
- y =latitude
- value = real in format n.nnnne+nn
- (comma used as separator; no spaces)
Units: Gg/yr.
- Gigagram (Gg) of compound (CO2,N2O,etc.) emitted in that cell per year.
- PFC is in Gg of CF4 equivalents
- HFC is in Gg of HFC-134a equivalents
Emission Types:
- co2 = CO2
- ch4 = CH4
- n2o = N2O
- co = CO
- nox = NO2
- so2 = SO2
- nmv = NMVOC
- nh3 = NH3
- bc = black carbon
- oc = organic carbon
- sf6 = SF6
- hfc = HFC
- pfc = PFC
