Advising Tools
There are many tools and other resources available to help you in your role as an academic advisor. This section highlights the most frequently used tools; it will be updated through the year, so check back often. See also the Advising Tips & Resources pages for additional information.
- WebSIS: The online version of MIT's Student Information System and your portal for access to your advisees' Online Freshman Advising Folder, Status of Registration, degree audit, grades, and photo. This site also contains links to registration instructions, academic calendar, catalogue, U-Info, and financial information.
- The Online Freshman Advising Folder: An online report, accessed via WebSIS, that contains important information on your advisees' incoming credit and other details to help you with registration.
- Advisor Funds: Explains the process for obtaining and using funds to enrich the advising experience for you, your advisees, and your associate advisor (if you have one). Includes an Allowance Record to help you keep track of your expenses.
- The Learning Strategies Site: Offers online self-assessments and modules on time management, test-taking, finals preparation, and academic integrity. It also lists study sessions for first-year Science Core subjects, sources of tutoring, and occasional workshops on particular study skills.
- The Academic Guide for Undergraduates and Their Advisors: Summarizes academic regulations and procedures, and offers general academic guidance relevant to advisors and advisees.
