Events & Open Houses
Below are listings of events relating to choosing a major at MIT, including the Exploring the Majors Fair and departmental open houses. We will also post events that other departments are coordinating to help you make a major choice, (i.e. Global Education and Career Development Center events, exchange program info sessions, etc.).
Exploring the Majors Fair
The Office of Undergraduate Advising and Academic Programming (UAAP) will host the Exploring the Majors Fair on Monday October 26 from 3:30-5 pm in Kresge Lobby. The Fair is a unique opportunity for you to learn about all the possibilities of a specific major.
At the Fair, you'll have a chance to talk with faculty, staff, and student majors to get the lowdown on studying, working, and researching in your areas of interest.
Even if you're pretty sure about what you want your major to be, this is an early chance to meet the people in your intended department and get answers to any questions. Staff from the HASS Education Office, the Career Development Center, and the UAAP will be there as well.
Department Open Houses
Open Houses are generally held during the spring semester and many are held during Campus Preview Weekend April 8-11, 2010. Open House dates and information will be posted on this page as received. Check back in IAP for the schedule.
See the Calendar section of this site and/or consult individual department websites or the MIT events calendar for additional events that may be of interest to you.
Be sure to check out the Questions to Ask at Open Houses below as they should help you get the most out of the conversations you have with departmental representatives at Open Houses this spring.
