Project: Land Recycling in China (Link)
Zhiyu specializes in urban land use planning and laws, regional policy planning, and socioeconomic impact analysis of downtown redevelopment projects, both in the context of China and the U.S.A. At MIT, he worked with Professor Polenske on studying the institutional and social impacts of large-scale land redevelopment in China, using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
Zhiyu worked as a professional planner in the private sector in Shanghai and Beijing before he came to DUSP. In the U.S., he interned at the Manhattan Borough Office of the New York City Department of City Planning, on various redevelopment planning and land use review projects in the Lower Manhattan area in NYC. Right now, Zhiyu is working at the Urban Sector of the Africa Division at the World Bank’s Washington D.C. headquarters.
