At the end of February everybody has to turn in a semiannual report in the form of a manuscript (or more, one per project) to be submitted to a journal of your choice in the form a full paper. The report REQUIRES a paragraphs that details the experimental part in a complete way so that others can follow and reproduce what you are doing.
The Semiannual has to be handed in the form of a CD containing the paper and all the supporting info to Ken. People leaving the group can hand this one month before departure in the form of a final report.
Ken will keep a log of all of the semiannual handed in. Failure to produce the semiannual will result in a request to leave the group by the end of the semester.
The first Friday of every month you will email Ken with a monthly report, which will consist of a number of figures with captions summarizing all of the experiments done, plus an appropriate experimental section and a bullet point descriptions of the goals achieved or not achieved in the month. Paragraph to be used in papers will be welcomed. Ken will give me a CD with all of the data mid month. Failure to produce two monthly reports in row, or five in total will result in the request to leave the group. Ken's records will be central in all of this.
Every new group member does not have to write a semi annual for one year and a monthly report for a semester
Each group meeting will consist of one literature review followed by one research presentation. Literature reviews must be based on publications no more than one year old and include material from at least four (4) papers.
