Directions to Church of the Advent

The Church of the Advent is located at the corner of Mount Vernon and Brimmer Streets at the foot of Beacon Hill. It is located between Charles Street and the River, between the Public Garden and Charles Circle. See the map below.

Mount Vernon Street runs from the side of (or underneath) the State House to the river, crossing Charles St about halfway between Charles Circle and the Public Garden or Boston Common. Brimmer Street runs one-way from Pinckney Street (the next street crossing Charles Street closer to Charles Circle than Mount Vernon Street) to Beacon Street, entering Beacon Street next to the Hampshire House or Bull and Finch (Cheers) Pub.

The closest public transportation stop is the Red Line Charles/MGH stop above Charles Circle, or the Green Line/Arlington stop across the Boston Common from the Church..

Approaching by car: (1) from the West, take Storrow Drive to the Government Center exit, and hard right to turn onto Charles Street, which is one-way from Charles Circle to Beacon Street. (2) from the North or South, take I-93 to Storrow Drive to the Government Center exit, going straight across onto Charles Street. (3) from Cambridge, go through Kendall Square or along Memorial Drive to the Longfellow Bridge; once across it turn right onto Charles Street.

We have a special arrangement for parking in the Boston Common Garage on Charles Street. To take advantage of this arrangement, please have your parking garage receipt stamped at the Church before the service. There is no cost for this service.

Once parked, walk along Charles Street to either Mt Vernon or to Pinckney Street. Walk towards the river (away from the hill) to Brimmer Street, and turn on Brimmer Street towards the Church.
