MIT PAY POLICY

In the event of an emergency that would require the Institute to suspend normal operations, staff will be informed regarding a special closing or an early release from work. Confirmation of a closing will be placed on the MIT Home page, the Snow Line (phone number 617 253-SNOW or 617 253-7669), and through communication from one's manager. The MIT Home page will spotlight and link to the emergency preparedness page in case of an emergency.

Please note that a suspension of classes and academic activities does not automatically extend to the work of employees. Conversely, a closing for some or all employees does not affect students unless the announcement so states.

Please refer to Personnel Policy 5.8 for further information about emergency closings and the Institute's pay policy in such circumstances. You may also contact your Human Resources Officer for assistance.
