MIT Career Services offers extensive services for students and alumni including career counseling, pre-professional advising, on-campus recruiting, and job listings through monstertrak.com. Career Services has also compiled an on-line Employment and Career Resources page specifically for chemists. Many undergraduate and graduate students are introduced to industrial jobs through summer internships. The Chemistry Education Office, located in 2-204, receives many announcements of internship opportunities through the mail. All of our students are encouraged to review the material. A good place to begin a job search is at the American Chemical Society's Career Services site at www.chemistry.org/careers/. Electronic versions of job-related publications are available. The ACS also has a career consultant program and offers workshops at national and regional meetings. The Chemistry Department hosts an Industrial Recruiting Program every fall for Ph.D. level chemists. Recruiters are invited to participate by submitting a form on our interactive recruiting page or by sending an email to chem-recruiting@mit.edu. Another valuable resource is the Chemistry Department's list of company career websites. |
