Excellent answers to admission FAQ from my colleague Yichuan Liu

Admissions Questions

I would like to help prospective students but it helps me if the questions asked are the ones I can answer and the answers aren't easily found online.

I know a lot of prospective students have admissions questions. However, as evident from my title "Ph.D. student", I am a lowly graduate student who is not and will never be on the admissions committee. Naturally, I have no influence with the admissions committee either. I cannot answer questions about the probability of admission for a Ph.D. or an MBA . My answers would be as good as yours. I can only tell you what you know. If you have great test scores, great letters of recommendation and have done good research that makes you a likely candidate. Other than this generic information, I don't know much more myself. If you are bent upon finding a comparative metric, I suggest reading Ph.D. candidates resumes to get an idea of various types of people admitted. If you have very specific questions about the program that you couldn't get from the website, email me, but I may take a few days to respond.

Good Luck!
