Relevant Experience
1989-Present: Group Leader of Air Traffic Control Systems Group (92). Direct FAA, NASA and DoD-sponsored research on air traffic surveillance, air / ground data link applications, satellite navigation and air traffic management automation. Serve on several government / industry committees that establish standards for cockpit displays and human factors requirements for civil aviation.

1983-1989: Massachusetts Institute of Technology. C.S. Draper Assistant Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Principal Investigator of NASA research grant on visual-vestibular interaction and its application to flight simulation. Principal Investigator of NASA research grant on cockpit automation in transport category aircraft. Principal Investigator of NASA research grant on control and display effects on workload and performance in microgravity. Taught graduate and undergraduate courses in human-machine interaction, system dynamics, flight simulation, and flight control systems. Director of Flight Operations for Daedalus human-powered aircraft project.
